PHILOTE, s. f. (Mythol.) l'une des filles de la Nuit, selon Hésiode dans sa Théogonie, 224. Ce poëte a entendu par philote, l'abus du penchant que les deux sexes ont l'un pour l'autre. Hygin a rendu ce mot par celui d'incontinence.
