LIMITROPHE, adj. (Géogr.) ce mot se dit des terres, des pays, qui se touchent par leurs limites, qui sont contigus l'un à l'autre; ainsi la Normandie & la Picardie sont limitrophes. Nous avons reçu ce mot en Géographie, car celui de voisin n'est pas si propre, ni si juste; & quand il le seroit, nous aurions dû encore adopter celui de limitrophe, pour rendre notre langue plus riche & plus abondante.
