MAGISTERE, s. m. (Chimie.) On donne ce nom à quelques précipités de toutes les especes, & par conséquent fort arbitrairement, sans que les précipités qu'on désigne par ce nom ayent aucun caractere distinctif. Voyez Précipité. Il y a un magistere de bismuth, un magistere d'antimoine, un magistere de saturne, un magistere d'étain, un magistere de corail, un magistere de perle, un magistere de soufre, &c. Voyez Bismuth, Matiere perlée , qui est un autre nom du magistere d'antimoine, Etain, Corail, &c.

Magistere est aussi un des noms de la pierre philosophale. Plusieurs alchimistes l'ont appellée le grand magistere, le magistere, notre magistere. Voyez Pierre philosophale. (b)
