LIMITATIF, adj. (Jurisp.) se dit de ce qui restraint l'exercice d'un droit sur un certain objet seulement, à la différence de ce qui est simplement démonstratif, & qui indique bien que l'on peut exercer son droit sur un certain objet, sans néanmoins que cette indication empêche d'exercer ce même droit sur quelqu'autre chose; c'est ainsi que l'on distingue l'assignat limitatif de celui qui n'est que démonstratif.
