Zoolog.) serpent marin qui se trouve au Brésil; il se tient sous l'eau immobile; tous les animaux qui le touchent y demeurent attachés, & il s'en nourrit: il sort quelquefois & se repose sur le rivage. Si on le prend avec la main, la main s'y colle; si l'on cherche à dégager la main prise, avec l'autre, celle - ci se prend également: alors l'animal se déploie, se jette dans les eaux, & y entraîne sa proie.
