GALWAY, (Géograph.) quelques - uns écrivent Galloway, mais mal. C'est une contrée d'Irlande dans la province de Connaught, avec titre de Comté, d'environ 30 lieues de long sur 16 de large; ce comté est borné au nord par ceux de Maye & de Roscommon, au sud par celui de Clark, à l'orient par l'Océan Atlantique. Il y a plusieurs lacs; il abonde en grains & en pâturages. Galway en est la capitale. (D. J.)
