QUADRUPLATOR, s. m. (Hist. rom.) ce mot qu'on trouve dans Cicéron, signifie un délateur, pour des crimes qui concernoient la république; on le nommoit quadruplator, parce qu'on lui donnoit la quatrieme partie du bien de ceux qui sur sa délation, avoit été consisqué. Plaute a forgé le verbe quadruplari, pour signifier, faire la profession de délateur. (D. J.)
