GABIE, s. f. (Marine.) la hune qui est au haut du mât; ce terme n'est d'usage que sur la Méditerranée: ce mot vient de l'italien gabbia, qui veut dire cage. A Marseille on appelle aussi gabie le mât de hune. (Z)
