Porte, s. m. (Stéreotom.) c'est une baie qui prend
le nom, 1°. du mur dans lequel elle est percée comme
porte en tour ronde, si elle est convexe; porte en
tour ci euse, si elle est concave; 2°. de l'endroit où
elle est placée dans un angle rentrant, c'est une porte
dans l'angle; dans un saillant, c'est une porte sur le
coin; 3°. de la direction, comme porte droite, qui
est perpendiculaire à sa direction; biaise, si elle lui
est oblique; ébrasée si les piés droits s'ouvrent en - dehors,
comme aux églises gothiques de Notre - Dame de Paris, de Reims, &c. (D. J.)
