Baie, s. f. bacca, (Hist. nat. bot.) fruit mou, charnu, succulent, qui renferme des pepins ou des noyaux: tels sont les fruits du laurier, du troêne, du myrte, &c. Lorsque de pareils fruits sont disposés en grappe, on leur donne le nom de grains, au lieu de celui de baie: par exemple, on dit un grain de raisin, un grain de sureau, &c. Tournefort. (I)
