BAGAUDE, (Hist. anc.) c'est ainsi que les anciens Gaulois, sur - tout depuis le tems de Diocletien, appelloient un larron; & de - là est venu le mot de bagauda, ou bagaudia, qui, selon Prosper en sa chronique, & Salvien, liv. V. signifie un brigandage, une émotion de peuple, une sédition, un soulevement de paysans. (G)
