BADELAIRE, s. f. vieux mot qu'on a conservé dans le Blason, & qui signifie une épée faite en sabre, c'est - à - dire, courte, large & recourbée: on croit que ce mot vient de baltearis, à cause qu'un baudrier étoit autrefois appellé baudel; d'où vient que quelques - uns disent baudelaire. (V)
