(Méd. anc.) ce nom grec indique chez les anciens Médecins, le suc des plantes, soit qu'il découlât naturellement, ou par incision; mais Hippocrate emploie ce mot pour désigner le suc du silphium qu'on nommoit le suc par excellence, comme nous appellons aujourd'hui l'écorce du quinquina, simplement l'écorce.
