AXIFUGE, adj. on appelle (en Méchanique) force axifuge, la force avec laquelle un corps qui tourne autour d'un axe, tend à s'éloigner de cet axe; c'est proprement une force centrifuge, dont le centre est dans cet axe. Voyez Centrifuge.

Quand une toupie tourne sur elle - même, tous les points de cette toupie, qui sont hors de la ligne ou axe qui passe par fon milieu, ont une force axifuge. (O)
