Maillon, instrument du métier d'étoffe de soie. Le
maillon est un anneau de verre de la longueur d'un
pouce environ; il a trois trous, un à chaque bout,
qui sont ronds, & dans lesquels passent d'un côté la
maille de corps pour suspendre le maillon, & à l'autre
un fil un peu gros pour tenir l'aiguille de plomb
qui tient le tout en raison. Ces deux trous sont séparés
par un autre de la longueur d'un demi - pouce
environ, au - travers duquel l'on passe un nombre de
fils de la chaîne proportionné au genre d'étoffe.
