Liege fossile, (Hist. nat.) suber montanum: on nomme ainsi une espece de pierre extrèmement légere qui paroît composée de fibres ou de filets flexibles, & d'un tissu spongieux comme le liége. Wallerius le regarde comme une espece d'amiante, aussi - bien que la chair fossile, caro fossilis, qui se trouve en quelques endroits du Languedoc.
