KALENTAR ou KALANTAR, s. m. (Hist. mod.) c'est ainsi qu'on nomme en Perse le premier magistrat municipal d'une ville, dont la dignité répond à celle de maire en France. Il est chargé de recueillir les impôts, & quelquefois il fait les fonctions de sousgouverneur.
