ICONIQUE Statue, (Antiq. greq.) on nommoit
ainsi dans la Grece les statues que l'on élevoit
en l'honenur de ceux qui avoient été trois fois vainqueurs
aux jeux sacrés. On mesuroit exactement ces
statues sur leur taille & sur leurs membres, & l'on
les appella statues iconiques, parce qu'elles étoient
censées devoir représenter plus parfaitement qu'aucune
autre, la ressemblance de ceux pour qui elles
