HOBLERS ou HOBILERS, s. m. pl. (Hist. mod.) étoient autrefois des gens demeurant sur les côtes, qui étoient obligés de tenir un cheval prêt, en cas de quelque invasion, afin d'en donner avis.
C'étoit aussi le nom qu'on donnoit à certains chevaliers irlandois, qui servoient dans la cavalerie légere. (G)
