GORDIUM, (Géog. anc.) ville d'Asie dans la Phrygie sur le fleuve Sangar; Etienne le géographe la nomme Gordicium: peut - être avoit - elle pris son nom de Gordius, pere de Midas, qui en avoit fait le lieu de sa résidence. Arrien, Xénophon, & les historiens d'Alexandre le Grand, font mention de Gordium: ce fut - là, disent - ils, que ce roi ne vint à bout du noeud gordien qu'en le coupant. Voyez Gordien (Noeud) . (D.
