GÉLA, (Géog. anc.) petite ville de Sicile qui prenoit son nom de la riviere Géla qui l'arrosoit: Virgile le dit, immanisque Géla fluvii cognomine dicta. Le nom moderne de cette riviere est fiume di Terra - Nova; & la ville ou bourg s'appelle Terra - Nova. Il falloit que ce fût une grande ville du tems de Virgile, puisqu'il la nomme immanis. (D. J.)
