* FUTAINE, s. f. terme de Commerce, étoffe de fil & de coton, qui paroît comme piquée d'un côté. Voyez Coton. Il y a de la futaine à poil, & de la futaine à grain d'orge. Il y a aussi de la futaine à deux envers, qu'on appelle autrement bombasin, qui vient de Lyon, & qui est doublement croisée.
