Virgile ayant besoin de trouver un dactyle dans alitum, au lieu de dire régulierement ales, alitis, & au génitif pluriel alitum, a dit alituum:
Alituum, pecudumque genus sopor altus habebat. AEneid. lib. VII. v. 27.
Juvenal a dit induperator pour imperator: [p. 765]
Romanus, Graïusque, ac barbarus induperator. Juven. sat. x. v. 138. & au vers 29 de la quatrieme satyre, il dit:
Quales tunc epulas ipsum glutîsse putemus Induperatorem.
On trouve aussi relliquias pour reliquias. Ce sont autant d'exemples de l'épenthese. (F)
