(Marine.) c'est la partie du vaisseau comprise depuis la herpe du grand mât jusqu'à celle de l'avant, ou depuis le grand mât jusqu'au de<cb-> gré d'amure; comme c'est la partie la plus basse du côté du navire, & où l'on est le plus à découvert dans un jour de combat, on y met des fargues.
