Rai fait mention de cet arbre, qu'on trouve, dit - il, dans une contrée de l'Amérique voisine de l'isthme de Darien: il est de la grandeur & de la figure du poirier; ses feuilles sont d'un beau verd, & ne tombent point. Il porte un fruit semblable à la poire, verd lors même qu'il est mûr. Sa pulpe est aussi verte, douce, grasse, & a le goût de beurre. Il passe pour un puissant érotique.
