CAZERNES, s. f. (Art. milit.) sont de grands corps de logis construits entre le rempart & les maisons d'une ville fortifiée, ou même sur le rempart, pour loger les soldats, à la décharge & au soulagement des habitans. Voyez Garnison.

Il y a pour l'ordinaire deux lits dans chaque chambre, & trois soldats couchent dans le même lit. (Q)
