CARAVANSERASKIER, s. m. (Hist. mod.) directeur ou intendant, chef d'un caravanserai. Voyez Caravanserai.

Dans chaque caravanserai qui se rencontre sur les routes & dans les deserts, il y a un caravanseraskier; dans ceux qui sont situés dans les villes, & destinés à serrer ou à étaler les marchandises, comme dans celui d'Ispahan, il y a aussi un officier ou garde magasin qu'on appelle caravanseraskier. Il répond des marchandises déposées dans le caravanserai, moyennant un certain droit ou rétribution qu'on lui paye. (G)
