CARAGUATA, s. f. (Hist. nat. bot.) genre de plante à fleur monopétale, en cloche tubulée, dé<cb-> coupée ordinairement sur les bords en trois parties. Il s'éleve du fond du calice un pistil qui est attaché comme un clou à la partie postérieure de la fleur, & qui devient dans la suite un fruit oblong, pointu, membraneux, qui s'ouvre d'un bout à l'autre en trois parties, & qui renferme des semences garnies d'aigrettes.
