CABLIAU, (Hist. nat. Ichthyolog.) les Hollandois nomment ainsi un poisson de mer fort grand, fort long, dont la tête est fort grosse. On pêche ce poisson dans tous les ports de mer, où il se trouve en abondance. C'est un excellent manger. Sa chair est très blanche, & se divise en grandes écailles. Ce n'est autre chose que la morue fraîche. Voyez Morue.
