TRAINE, s. f. (Marine.) menue corde où les soldats du vaisseau attachent leur linge pour le laisser traîner à la mer, afin qu'il s'y lave. On dit à la traîne, lorsqu'on destine quelque chose à traîner dans la mer, en l'attachant à une corde.
