TRAPEZUS, (Géog. anc.) 1°. montagne du Chersonnèse taurique; c'est Strabon, liv. VII. pag. 309, qui en parle; il fait aussi mention d'une ville du même nom, qui, dit - il, est voisine de la Tibarénie & de la Colchide.

2°. Trapezus, ville de la Cappadoce. Ptolomée, l. V. c. vj. la marque sur la côte du Pont Cappadocien, près de Pharnacia. C'étoit, selon Etienne le géographe, une colonie des habitans de Sinope. Voyez Trébisonde. (D. J.) [p. 566]
