TOXOTES, s. m. pl. (Antiq. d'Athènes.) TOCOTA/I; nom de bas officier, ou plutôt d'especes de licteurs qui accompagnoient, & étoient aux ordres des Léxiarques. Il y en avoit un millier dans la ville d'Athènes qui demeuroient dans des tentes qu'on avoit premierement tendues dans le forum, & qu'on tendit ensuite dans la place de l'aréopage. Voyez Potter.
