TOPAZOS, (Géog. anc.) île de la mer Rouge, à trois cens stades du continent, selon Pline, liv. XXXVII. c. viij. Il ajoute qu'elle est couverte de brouillards, ce qui a été cause que plusieurs navigateurs l'ont cherché inutilement, & que c'est ce qui lui a fait donner le nom de Topazos, parce que Topazis en langage troglodite, signifie chercher.
