BOMBARDIER, s. m. c'est, dans l'Artillerie, celui qui exécute les mortiers & les bombes.

Les bombardiers ont formé en France un régiment attaché à l'Artillerie, comme celui des fusiliers, appellé ensuite régiment de royal artillerie. Mais le régiment des bombardiers a été incorporé dans royal artillerie, par l'ordonnance du 5 Février 1720. Voyez Mortier. (Q)
