* BISZESTIA ou BECZESTIE, (Hist. mod.) on nomme ainsi en Russie la punition imposée à ceux qui ont injurié quelqu'un: elle consiste dans une amende pécuniaire proportionnée au rang de celui qui a reçû l'injure; si c'est un boyard, l'amende va quelquefois à deux mille roubles: si celui qui a fait l'injure est insolvable, on l'envoye à celui qu'il a lésé, qui est maître d'en faire un esclave, ou de lui faire donner le knoute.
